CHRYSLER PARK AVE SUMMER ART FEST TAKES PLACE THIS WEEKEND – VISITORS ASKED TO HEED PARKING SIGNAGE
Free and expanded parking, shuttle buses also available
(August 6, 2011 – Rochester, NY) Visitors to this weekend’s Chrysler Park Ave Summer Art Fest are encouraged to heed temporary parking signs posted on side streets and to take advantage of shuttle buses and additional parking options that will be available this year. Residents and merchants from the Park Avenue neighborhood have placed hundreds of temporary parking signs along side streets in preparation for the 35th annual festival, which will take place on August 6 and 7. The YES YOU CAN and NO YOU CAN’T parking signs are designed to help motorists avoid confusion, ticketing and towing during the festival. To further ease parking woes,non-alternate parking is allowed on some of the streets that run perpendicular to Park Avenue. When in doubt, refer to the posted signs.
Visitors are also encouraged to take advantage of nearby free and paid parking, including several options that are newly available this year. Free parking and shuttle bus service will be available to transport visitors from two designated lots, which are conveniently located at Monroe Square on Monroe Avenue near Union Street and at Gleason Works, 1000 University Avenue (enter lot from Elton Street). Shuttle buses will be available to transport visitors from these lots during the festival for $1 per person, round trip. The shuttles run continuously from 9a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. They stop at both festival entrances –Park/Alexander and Park/Culver – and at the festival midpoint of Oxford/East. All shuttles are air-conditioned and liftequipped. There is also limited handicap-only parking in the Parkleigh lot on the corner of Goodman Street and Park Avenue (enter lot from south side of Park Avenue). This year, the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation will be offering off-street parking in its lots at 962 East Avenue between Berkeley and Barrington Streets, just a short walk to the festival. The cost to park is $5 per car. There will also be $5 parking open to festival-goers only (not artists or exhibitors) behind the Talmudical Institute at the corner of Brunswick Street and Park Avenue, one block west of Culver Road (enter lot from south side of Park Avenue). The Chrysler Park Ave Summer Art Fest runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, and from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. on Sunday, August 7. For more information, click here

Congrats to Week #1 RocStar Rivalry Winners
-
Now entering their fifth year, The Filthy McNastys continue to deliver their unmistakable sound to enthusiastic crowds across New York State. With a new rhythm section and a new album in the works, The Filthy McNastys take to the road in summer, 2011 to show the rest of the country what has made them upstate NY’s premiere original blues band. A truly original band, it wasn’t hard for The Filthy McNastys to stand out amongst the "Emo" bands and cover acts dominating the local music scene. Soon, The Filthy McNastys were releasing their first album --2009’s "Last Stand"-- and could be found opening for big names, packing large halls and setting festival stages ablaze with their fiery brand of rock and blues.
Connecting with crowds of all ages and bringing everyone to the dance floor are priorities for these boys. The blue-collar appeal and groove-heavy nature of songs such as "Hell Camino" and "Honey On Tap" signal The Filthy McNastys’ arrival. Troy L. Smith of Insider Magazine says The Filthy McNastys "blend the simplicities of raw folk and the sexiness of 60’s blues-rock with relative ease…"
